Quadrix Solutions Leads ARIN Public Policy Discussion
Web Hosting Company Co-Founder and CTO Seeks to Minimize Conflict and Maximize Returns In Solving IP Address Shortage

Piscataway, NJ, September 28, 2000 - Thomas Palmieri, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Quadrix Solutions, a systems integrator and web hosting company, has been invited to review the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) Web Hosting Policy. This open-forum discussion will take place during ARIN's Public Policy and Members Meeting, to be held October 2-4, at the Washington Dulles Hilton Hotel, in Herndon, VA.

Because continued operation of the Internet depends, in part, upon the conservation and efficient use of IP address space, ARIN has asked Palmieri, a recognized industry expert in this area, to guide his peers in a discussion about how to best solve the shortage of IP addresses. The ultimate objective will be to endorse an ARIN policy and related technical issues that are designed to meet the diverse needs of its member companies.

"Simply put, without IP numbers, the Internet cannot function," explains Palmieri. "The allocation and management of IP addresses becomes increasingly more important each year as the universe of Internet users grows exponentially. Since the pool of IP address space is finite, our role, as a leading web hosting company, is to help ensure that ARIN adopts a prudent, technically feasible policy that guarantees enough addresses will be available to accommodate future users."

"The current policy is not very well defined and creates an undue hardship on web hosting companies," continues Palmieri. "We will encourage ARIN members to consider other technical alternatives and the potential payback. Our intent is to arrive at a solution that dramatically increases efficient use of IP addresses using a technically sound, fundamental approach. We don't advocate one particular solution. Rather, we seek to be the catalyst for an innovative solution."
